Problems with the wiring, connectors, or other electrical components can disrupt this signal and cause speedometer issues. Instrument cluster problems. Sometimes, the problem lies within the instrument cluster itself. Malfunctions in the cluster can affect not only the speedometer but also other gauges and dashboard warning lights.Usually a faulty instrument voltage regulator will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential issue. 1. Dim or flickering gauges. One of the first symptoms of an issue with the voltage regulator is dim or flickering gauges. The voltage regulator provides power to the gauges, and can cause it shine dimly or flicker if it has Equipment. The Mondeo is well equipped, with even the most basic Edge model sporting a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air-conditioning, electric windows, a CD and MP3-compatible stereo, a
I thought that a HS CAN bus problem could cause this, as the BCM messages have to use the HS-CAN bus to get to the pcm. But the BCM is always, as far as I know, on the MS-CAN bus. The junction point on the Focus is the IC (instrument cluster), but on the Mondeo, the only diagram I have seen shows the A/C unit (!) as the junction.
5) Wear and Tear. Although Ford designs most of the gauges and indicators on your dashboard to last, they are prone to tear and wear. Some components, like indicator lights or wires, may become worn out after some time. The wires may become corroded, instruments may burn out, or the needles may get stuck on the gauges. 54WWdhA.
