The original Far Cry game, developed by Crytek and published by Ubisoft, is radically different than what the series is today. The first game focused on a soldier named Jack Carver as he searches for a journalist on a mysterious island filled with mercenaries and bloodthirsty mutants born from evil experiments.
Originally posted by Kirinyale: "Very High" textures ARE Ultra HD. Without the HD pack, they can only be High or Normal. I've always played with very high textures, from first day on. Only downloaded HD pack today. Two different things, there's no relation. There's a specific menu option to activate the HD pack. #3.
Increase the difficulty level and/or enable Survivor mode, and now you actually have to think about how to approach each situation. About the story: when you start digging deeper into Primal, you'll see a lot of details and underlying themes in its story and characters. I believe Primal is one of the most detailed games of FC series.
On survival mode expert difficulty you are no longer on top of the food chain as in other Far Cry titles: you have to always stay alert, if a predator (most kinds anyway) spots you before you spot it, you are done for. You will carefully consider if attacking animal X is worth the risk and if you can take on the challenge.
Killed at least one 2-horned rhino in that rhino mission up North, as well as a few regular ones. Never heard of a rare deer or the white yak though. (They don't seem to be mentioned anywhere.) All 4 beastmaster hunts completed and have all tamable beasts tamed. And yes all the hunting miniquests completed.
Essentially Far Cry 4 reworked Far Cry 3, and Primal reworked 4. There is a lot of re-skinning going on in these games so anything you can do to differentiate the games is a good idea. I love them and I love these devs but I'm just pointing out the elephant (or mammoth) in the room.
